On behalf of the organizing committee, I am glad to invite you to attend the VII IEEE World Engineering Education Conference (EDUNINE2023). The conference will be held as a Hybrid Conference (virtual and face-to-face combined) in Bogotá, Colombia, from March 12-15, 2023, hosted by the Universidad Central and Universidad del Rosario .
The IEEE World Engineering Education Conference - EDUNINE is a unique and innovative international conference that favors the exchange of knowledge, experiences and is a meeting point for academics, professionals, researchers and students of education in Engineering, Technology, and Computing and related topics. The program of the conference covers the main issues that are presented in education today, among which stand out: the design and development of new learning environments, the use of new technologies and experiences, the motivation of students, the evaluation of learning and competences, intervention in the face of learning difficulties, etc.
The goal of this international Hybrid Conference (virtual and face-to-face combined) is to bring together researchers and practitioners from academia to focus on Engineering, Computing / Informatics, and Technology educational advances and connect groups of participants in different cities and continents in a hybrid way so it feels like all participants share the same place. The conference will host simultaneous mixed session with in-person and virtual participants to allow face-to-face and virtual social interaction. We hope an approach of this kind can help our participants reduce their dependence on universities' financial status, travel, health, visa, and other restrictions while at the same time improving inclusiveness and cultural diversity.
The theme of this edition of the conference is "Reimaging Engineering - Toward the next generation of Engineering Education, merging technologies in a connected world". Conferences on Education in Engineering, Computing, and Technology are more relevant than ever for bridging communities and helping educators and policymakers to find creative and innovative solutions as a response to teaching and learning in the present crisis and in the longer-term future.
Authors may choose to present their papers in person or online. Presenters (in-person and online-only) would be treated equally. Every talk is seen by two audiences (local and remote) only to registered participants. Also, every talk will be recorded with the advantage that it can be viewed at any time. On-site presentations will be subject to the safety and health recommendations of the venue´s local authorities. The health of the participants and organizers is our priority.
We also invite authors to submit contributions that address the unprecedented disruption caused by COVID-19 on all aspects of higher education in our special thematic stream about Impact of COVID-19 in Higher Education .
The language of the papers for publication in the IEEE Xplore® digital library of IEEE is English for further international dissemination. The languages for the oral presentations of the papers in the sessions of the conference are English and also Portuguese and Spanish, corresponding to the most spoken languages in the Latin American region. The papers will be evaluated by peers based on originality, technical and/or research content/depth, correctness, relevance to conference, contributions, and readability in English.
Through a mix of virtual and face-to-face sessions of workshops, plenaries, panels, parallel author oral presentation sessions and special sessions for social activities (hybrid coffee breaks and hybrid brunch meetings with invited guests), the four-day conference seeks to explore and to focus on the key challenges of the theme of the conference and disrupting times. Education in Engineering, Computing, and Technology have become a multifaceted and complex phenomenon. Therefore, reflection on needs, challenges, paradigm shifts, innovations, and localized and contextualized experiences shaped by specific academic cultures and education systems provides us a better understanding of the urgent demands of this new era. It is an ideal forum for sharing ideas, learning about developments, and interacting with colleagues.
EDUNINE2023 Best Paper Awards are given to the best papers presented at the annual EDUNINE conference, which will be nominated by reviewers, Technical Program and Awards Committees. Also, EDUNINE2023 Recognition Awards and EDUNINE 2023 Meritorious Services Awards are given to members of the EDUNINE organization committees who distinguished themselves by outstanding meritorious achievement or service to this conference.
The IEEE World Engineering Education conference - EDUNINE will be held every year in a different Latin American city. For this edition, in multiple cities of Bogotá, Colombia. It is an annual conference of the IEEE Education Society organized jointly with COPEC (Science and Education Research Organization) for Region 9 (Latin America). This conference is part of the renowned list of regional conferences of this Society that are: FIE (FRONTIERS IN EDUCATION, mainly in the United States and Canada, Regions 1-7), EDUCON (GLOBAL ENGINEERING EDUCATION CONFERENCE, in Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa, Region 8), EDUNINE (WORLD ENGINEERING EDUCATION CONFERENCE, Latin America, Region 9) and TALE (TEACHING ASSESSMENT AND LEARNING IN ENGINEERING, Asia and Oceania, Region 10).
