The Universidad Central (Central University) is constituted as an institution of higher education, in accordance with all the legal parameters of the Ministry of National Education. Its internal organization follows from the General Statute and its academic life depends on the Institutional Educational Project.
This institution was founded in 1966 by a group of prestigious Colombian educators who sought to extend access to higher education to all sectors of society. On June 30 of that year, Raúl Vásquez Vélez, Rubén Amaya Reyes, Carlos Medellín, Alberto Gómez Moreno, Eduardo Mendoza Varela, Elberto Téllez Camacho, Jorge Enrique Molina and Darío Samper, signed the charter of the Central University Foundation. Since then, it has provided a comprehensive education to its students, in which its efforts have been oriented to their ethical, humanistic and scientific training, as well as to the knowledge and identification of the social reality of the country.
Thus, it has been proposed to train suitable professionals who are, at the same time, upright citizens and leaders capable of directing and guiding socio-cultural processes such as those required by the construction of a new country. This faculty has been concerned with the professional quality , academic excellence and social projection of its undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
Vision to 2024: The Central University will be a high-quality, innovative, student-centered institution that trains humanistic, responsible, upright and entrepreneurial citizens throughout life, and that works on the interaction between professors and students with the environment. We will be recognized as a globalized, solid and sustainable organization, with accomplished unicentralists and proud of their University.

Universidad del Rosario (officially in Spanish: Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario) is a Colombian university founded on Roman Catholic principles, in 1653 by Fray Cristobal de Torres. Located in Bogotá, due to its important place in Colombian history, it is known as "the Cradle of the Republic". Most faculties reside at the Cloister, the main campus located in the historic-geographical centre of Bogotá. It also included a private all-male traditional primary and secondary school until 2008.
Nowadays the institution is based on secular ideas and remains very influential in Colombian culture and public life. At least 28 of Colombia's Presidents have been students of this university. It has influenced and participated in very important transitional processes like the revolution for the independence from Spain and the drafting of the Political National Constitution of 1991. One of the most important 1886 Constitution's Supreme Court (1936), the so-called golden court, was composed in its majority by lawyers from the Faculty of Jurisprudence.
